Engaging community networks to counteract tobacco industry interference: A group discussion with young persons in Sainthamaruthu

As the second phase of the short course launched last February, participants who successfully completed the first phase were invited to conduct an intervention engaging their community networks to counteract tobacco industry interference. Nine applicants were selected for the second phase, which will be implemented in May 2026, in parallel with the World No Tobacco Day celebrations on May 31st.

Dr Mohamed Silmy one such successful applicant, conducted a discussion with a group of young persons in Sainthamaruthu in Ampara District, providing insights on local and global legal frameworks on tobacco control and also on industry interference on public health policies.
