CCT Presence at the National Symposium on Tobacco and Alcohol Prevention (NSTAP – 2022)
Centre for Combating Tobacco (CCT) team made two oral presentations highlighting their tobacco industry monitoring activities in the National Symposium on Tobacco and Alcohol Prevention (NSTAP) held on 2nd December 2022 at The Waters Edge Hotel, Battaramulla. It was organised by the National Authority on tobacco and Alcohol (NATA) for the second consecutive year with the aims of enriching the literature in tobacco and alcohol related researches conducted in Sri Lankan settings and to create a platform for Sri Lankan researches to present their studies related to tobacco and alcohol.
Participation at the symposium was an immensely successful experience for the Centre for Combating Tobacco (CCT), earning recognition for the tobacco observatory established at Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. Ms. Chinthika Perera presented two abstracts titled “Use of a Mobile Application to Engage Communities in Sri Lanka to monitor tobacco, alcohol and other drug industries and their activities” and “The Role of Tobacco Industry in Delaying Singlestick Cigarette Sales Ban in Sri Lanka” in the oral presentation sessions.
