The 136th Anniversary International Medical Congress 2023 of the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) was conducted from 25th July to 28th July 2023 at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo, Sri Lanka. The theme of the year was “Towards Human Health Care: Excellence, Equity, Community”.
Participation at the annual congress has been a very successful experience for the Centre for Combating Tobacco (CCT). CCT as the tobacco observatory for Sri Lanka and the South Asia region, established at Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, earned the recognition in addition to knowledge gain and networking. CCT team made an oral presentation highlighting their tobacco industry monitoring activities in South Asia. Ms. Chinthika Perera made an oral presentation titled “Reported tobacco industry interference during COVID-19 pandemic in South Asia” on 27th July at the free paper session.
