RBJ Suranga, who successfully completed the first phase of the short course “Investigating tobacco industry interference on public health policies and actions”, successfully commenced the second phase on 25th May 2026.

He initiated the discussion with 13 social activists from Mattakkuliya area at the Pichchamalwatte Community Hall, Sammanthranapura, Mattakkuliya, Colombo District. The tobacco industry tactics were discussed in parallel with World No Tobacco Day on May 31. Small group discussions were conducted with the active participation of attendees using two case scenarios. The way to raise awareness among the community to counter the tobacco, alcohol and other drugs menace was further discussed.
