TUHS App Celebrates its 3rd Anniversary

Tobacco Unmasked HotSpots App created by the Centre for Combatting Tobacco, celebrates its 3rd anniversary today.
TUHS is a GIS based online free mobile application to monitor geographical location of tobacco industry activities and interference in public health. It also enables the registered users to report tobacco and alcohol advertisement and promotion through media and direct interference by the tobacco industry. Therefore it acts as a Community Driven Tobacco Surveillance System (CDTSS).
This app was initially launched in April 2018 to pilot for feasibility and acceptability. An upgraded version was launched in March 2019 based on pilot test results. In 2020 th app was again upgraded, enabling its users to submit reports in any local language they prefer – Sinhala, Tamil or English.
According to the collected data every Wednesday a report is issued, highlighting the mostly reported categories of the complaints and disseminated via emails and social media. If you want, you can download it for free from your phone’s app store and be a part of the community surveillance system of the CCT.
