CCT completes the Cycle 1 of HelpQuit – The WHO-CCT Online Smoking Cessation Course

Centre for Combating Tobacco (CCT) is the WHO-FCTC sanctioned tobacco observatory of Sri Lanka and South Asia Region hosted by the Faculty of Medicine University of Colombo.

The CCT online Help Quit is a joint project by CCT and WHO country office of Sri Lanka. The main intention of this platform is to create an online learning environment for medical and allied professionals to improve their competencies in helping their patients to quit tobacco.

HelpQuit includes 4 modules resourced by local, regional and global tobacco control experts and experienced clinicians, in which the last module is an online zoom session. On the 5th of November 2020, the zoom session of the 4th module was successfully conducted, marking the official conclusion of the first cycle. More than 200 registrants registered for the first cycle and it will remain open until 30th November 2020, so that current registrants who could not participate in the concluding live Zoom session can complete the course and obtain their certificate of competence.
